Day 01: Arrive Cochin
Arrive at the Cochin international airport. Our representative will assist you in getting transferred to your pre booked hotel. Check in, Relax and get rid of jetlag.
Day 2 & 3: Cochin
Get ready for local city tour which includes Jew Synagogue, Santa Cruz Basilica, Dutch Palace at Mattancherry, St. Francis Church, Chinese fishing net etc. Spend your evening watching Kathakali Dance performances during Cochin Beach Tour with Holiday India.
Kochi (colonial name Cochin) is a vibrant city situated on the south-west coast of the Indian peninsula in the breathtakingly scenic and prosperous state of Kerala, hailed as 'God's Own Country'. Its strategic importance over the centuries is underlined by the sobriquet Queen of the Arabian Sea. Informally, Cochin is also referred to as the Gateway to Kerala.
From time immemorial, the Arabs, British, Chinese, Dutch, and Portuguese have left indelible marks on the history and development of Cochin. Over the years, Cochin has emerged as the commercial and industrial capital of Kerala and is perhaps the second most important city on the west coast of India (after Mumbai/Bombay). Cochin is proud of its world class port and international airport that link it to many major cities worldwide.
Day 04: Cochin Athirapally (60 Km)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the honeymoon spot named Athirapally. Check in at the hotel.
Athirappalli (78 km from Kochi) the beautiful and popular waterfall on the border of the Sholayar forest ranges is just 5 km apart. The Athirappalli Falls joins the Chalakkudy River after falling down a drop of 80 feet. Vazhachal is part of the Chalakkudy River. Both the waterfalls, their cool, misty water cascade down in the backdrop of thick green forest and rocky land, are a dazzling experience to visitors. Day 05: Athirapally Munnar
After breakfast, get driven to Munnar. Reach there and check in at the pre booked hotel. The drive takes you through the scenically vibrant valley of the Cardamom Hills of the Western Ghats.
It's a journey through extensive tea and spice plantations and for most part of our journey; the air is rendered with the fragrance of tea and spices. Munnar, a hill station on the Western Ghats is beautifully situated at the confluence of three rivers - the Muthirappuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala.
Day 06: Munnar
After breakfast at the hotel you will be driven for the half day sightseeing tour of Munnar.
There are a number of tourist attractions in the hill station of Munnar. Travelers can have panoramic view of the verdant surroundings and forested hills from Munnar. Walking and hiking around the small town of Munnar offer an exhilarating experience.
Travelers can also enjoy walking amongst the numerous tea estates of Munnar and view the entire process of making tea, right from plucking of tealeaves to their processing at the Kundale tea plantation. Anaimudi (2,695m), the highest peak in southern India, can be viewed from Munnar. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 07: Munnar Thekkady (Periyar) (160 km – 3-4 Hr
Morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Thekkady, reach there and check in at hotel. Rest for few hours and then in evening you will be taken for a motorboat ride at Periyar Lake to enjoy the beauty of the place.
Thekkady: Thekkady is located in Idukki district of Kerala. It is at the border of Kerala and Tamilnadu. It is at a distance of 195 Km from Cochin. By road it is 5 hours journey from Cochin. Nearest town is Kumali. From Cochin one has to travel via Pala then Pokununam and then Mundakayam. After corssing the Mundakayam bridge the roads starts climbing hills. Thekkady is famous for Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary is open from 6.00 AM to evening 6.00 PM. Out of total 777 sq.km area 360 sq.km is thick evergreen forest. Pariyar Wildlife sanctuary declared as Tiger Reserve in 1978.
Periyar Lake: This Lake was conceived by A British engineer, Col. V. Pennycuick who was the then chief engineer of Madras Presidency. This boat cruise is open from morning 7 PM to afternoon 4 PM and is of approximately 2 hours duration. You will be moving around the lake. KTDC and forest departments run the boats in this lake. One can also join for Nature Walk, Border Hiking, Jungle Safari, Bamboo rafting, Jungle Patrol, The Periyar tiger trail, elephant ride and bullock cart safari, plantation and sightseeing.
Spice Garden: There are many spice gardens around this beautiful area. One has to spend two hours to understand different types of spice plants available around this area. Ayurvedic Oil messages are another special service available here.
Day 08: Thekkady (Periyar)
After breakfast at the hotel you will enjoy the boat ride in Periyar Lake and the elephant ride. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 09: Thekkady (Periyar) Kumarakom
After morning breakfast, get driven to Kumarakom. Reach there and check in at the pre booked hotel. The day is at leisure for independent activities. Overnight at the Resort.
Day 10: Kumarakom
You can also enjoy the optional ayurvedic body massage at the hotel or around. You could also choose to explore the surrounding tribal villages, visit the nearby water bird sanctuary or ride through the narrow backwater channels through back of beyond Kerala. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 11: Kumarakom
After breakfast at the hotel check out and check in at the pre booked house boat. The house boat will be fully furnished with single and double bedrooms, sundeck, private balcony and a kitchen. It also comprises a chef, Oarsmen & cabin assistant. The materials that go into the making are all local and Eco friendly bamboo poles, coconut fiber ropes, bamboo mats, coir carpets etc. Enjoy your day on the cruising houseboat which will take you to various locations. Cruise along the placid lake and enjoy the panoramic views of the paddy fields, narrow canals and coconut lagoons. Cruising through this serene backwater will give you a taste of the lifestyle of an average Keralite, also have a glimpse of the fishing communities as you drift along the backwaters. The house boat will cruise through a number of canals including Azhikkal Canal, Kuppapuram, Pallathuruthy, Swamy Canal, Meenapally Kayal, Muttael Canal, Kainakary Church Canal, Vatta Kayal, Venattukadu Canal, Aakkathara Canal. Overnight stay will be on the houseboat.
Day 12: Alleppey – Varkala
Morning breakfast you will be transferred to Varkala in car. On arrival, check in at the hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 13: Varkala
Enjoy your day at Varkala Beach. Overnight at the hotel.
Varkala, a calm and quiet hamlet, lies on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram district. It has several places of tourist interests like a beautiful beach, a 2000 year old Vishnu temple and the ashramam- 'Sivagiri Mutt' a little distance from the beach.At the serene Varkala beach is a quiet sea resort rich in mineral water springs. A dip in the holy waters at this beach is believed to purge the body of impurities and the soul of all sins. Hence the name 'Papanasam beach'.A two thousand year old shrine the Janardhanaswamy Temple, stands on the cliffs overlooking the beach, a short distance away. The Sivagiri Mutt, founded by the great Hindu reformer and Philosopher Sree Narayana Guru (1856 - 1928) is also close by. The Samadhi (the final resting place) of the Guru here attracts thousands of devotees every year during the Sivagiri Pilgrimage days - 30th December to 1st January. Sree Narayana Guru propagated the ideology:one caste, one religion and one god, in a society torn by the taboos of caste system.Varkala offers excellent accommodation facilities for the tourist and is fast becoming a popular health resort with many Ayurvedic massage centres.
Day 14: Varkala Kovalam
Morning breakfast you will be transferred to Kovalam in car. On arrival, check in at the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing of Kovalam includes Padhamanabha Swamy temple, Museum, Horse Palace, Art Gallery. Evening you will be free at Kovalam Beach. Overnight at Hotel
Day: 15-16 Kovalam
You will be taken for an excursion to Kanyakumari. Overnight at the Kovalam Hotel.
Kovalam: Thirty years ago, Kovalam was a hippy idyll: a picture perfect tropical beach; a traditional fishing village providing fresh fish, fruits and toddy (coconut beer). Today this tiny beach is the focus of a multi-million dollar business, drawing thousands of tourists for a week dose of ozone, UV and a refreshing Indian Experience. Kovalam was brought to the public eye by the Maharaja of Travancore. Over the past three decades, the place has been well developed, and now figures prominently on the world tourism map. Kovalam means a grove of coconut trees and true to its name the village offers an endless sight of coconut trees. The crescent-shaped beach has three parts. The middle, hawah, in the early day, is a beehive of activities with fishermen setting out for sea. Azure water and favorable climate make Kovalam a favorite year-round spot for swimming. Sea here is pacific and shallow where you can take a dip in the saline waters. Day 17: Kovalam Trivandrum Fly back home
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and get driven to the Trivandrum airport for boarding flight to your onward destination. Our company executives will assist you there.
