The search for the Big 5 lasts for 11N/ 12D with the tour starting from Delhi and ending in Delhi itself. We cover the following destinations in this tour: Delhi, Jabalpur, Kanha National Park, Guwahati and Kaziranga National Park.
Day 1: Arrive Delhi
On your arrival at the Delhi Airport, you will be met and guided by our tour representatives. After being escorted to the nearby Shanti Home, a small boutique, family run guesthouse, you will be given a briefing on the wildlife adventure that awaits you. You can interact with your fellow companions for the journey over your stay at the Shanti Home overnight.
Day 2: Delhi – Jabalpur - Kanha
Fly to Jabalpur this morning from Delhi Airport, from where you will be driven to Kanha National Park. It is going to be a journey of 5-6 hours which will include a stop for lunch. Regarded as India’s greatest park and the inspiration behind Rudyard Kipling’s famous work ‘The Jungle Book’, the park is less busy than the other parks in India owing to its size of 1,940 sq kms and its remoteness. Apart from finding the tiger in his natural habitat, the national park is also home to the gaur, or ‘wild cattle’, sloth bear, Indian fox, striped hyena and leopard and is the last remaining habitat for the Barasingha or Swamp Deer, along with an impressive 350 species of birds. Check into the Singinawa Jungle Lodge and spend the night there.
Day 3 - 6: Kanha National Park
Spend the next 4 days exploring Kanha National Park. There are safaris that take place twice a day in customized 4x4 vehicles. The morning safaris last almost 6 hours and you have the experts on wildlife to guide you across the territory. There is an option to view the tigers on elephant back which is subject to availablility. You can also indulge in long walks on the 2 kilometre nature trail around the Tannaur River around the lodge area and you can also go cycling to explore the surrounding area. Take a glimpse into the lifestyle of the Indian traditional communities by visiting the tribal village of Kohoka. In the evening, interact with Nanda Rana on the workshop for the illustrated talks and slide shows of tigers and their conservation. You can also relax around the campfire. Stay overnight at Singinawa.
Day 7: Kanha - Jabalpur - Delhi
Drive back to Jabalpur in the morning from Kanha National Park and take your flight back to Delhi. Stay overnight at Shanti Home.
Day 8: Delhi - Guwahati - Kaziranga
Leave for the Delhi Airport in the morning and board your flight to Guwahati. After arrival at the Guwahati Airport, get driven to Kaziranga National Park, a 5-6 hours drive along the foothills of the Himalayas. Kaziranga is a World heritage Site and is one of the largest protected areas in India. It lies along the Brahmaputra River and covers an area of about 430 sq kms. It supports the largest number of Rhino population of the Indian subcontinent which accounts for over 80% of the world’s population. The park is also home to the wild elephant, wild boar, tiger, sambar, leopard, capped langur, and a small population of hoolock gibbon.
Check into Diphlu River Lodge which consists of thatch, bamboo and wooden boutique rooms on raised stilts overlooking the Diphlu River. You can explore this river in dugout canoes and look out for otters, buffaloes, deer and rhino grazing on the other bank. You can also enjoy barbecues and camp fires that the Lodge arranges here. Stay overnight at the Diphlu River Lodge.
Day 9 – 10: Kaziranga National Park
These two days, rise early in the morning and head out into the park for the sightings of the one horned Rhino and the other wildlife residing in Kaziranga with the Karbi Anglong Hills at the backdrop. Stay overnight at the Lodge.
Day 11: Kaziranga - Delhi
Drive back to Guwahati Airport and catch your flight back to Delhi. Have a farewell meal in the evening with your guide at Shanti Home. Stay overnight at Shanti Home.
Day 12: Delhi - Onward Destination
Leave for the Delhi Airport from where you can board your flight back home. The tour terminates here.
